Public Bond Financing

Since 1960, Fortson, Bentley and Griffin has served as counsel to various governmental entities, including public authorities, which provide “conduit” financing to borrowers through the issuance of bonds and other debt securities.

As counsel to public authorities, FB&G’s talented team of public bond financing attorneys routinely handles both taxable and tax-exempt financings. As counsel to public issuers, our attorneys work to develop strategies for incentives and other benefits available through governmental authorities that promote economic development and employment in the jurisdiction served. In concert with qualified bond counsel, we advise our issuer clients on matters involving applicable state and municipal law issues, compliance and enforcement actions related to the issuance of tax-exempt debt and other matters.

Our firm also represents tax-exempt organizations and other borrowers in connection with various bond financing arrangements with public authorities. We have extensive experience in structuring financings to help tax-exempt organizations meet their long-term capital needs. As counsel to these borrowers, we work closely with bond counsel and underwriter’s counsel, as well as state and local agencies, to develop the legal framework and transaction structure required to secure tax-exempt financings.
