Michael J. McCleary
MIKE McCLEARY is a real estate attorney who has practiced with Fortson, Bentley and Griffin since August of 1999. Mike’s practice focuses on residential and commercial real estate purchase and sales, loan closings, leasing transactions, real estate development, land use and zoning. Mike also acts as general counsel for Jackson EMC, Walton EMC and the Athens Area Association of Realtors.
Mike graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1999 and earned his B.A. in Economics from the University of Notre Dame in 1990. Before entering law school, Mike served in the United States Navy as an active duty Supply Corps Officer from 1990 to 1996, serving on the USS Antietam (CG-54) home ported in Long Beach, California and at the Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, Georgia.
Mike currently serves on the Executive Committee of the United Way of Northeast Georgia; he is the Treasurer of the Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation and serves as Secretary of the Georgia Club Foundation. Mike is an active member and former Chairperson of the Associate Council of the Athens Area Homebuilders Association. He currently serves on the Public Relations Committee of the Athens Area Association of Realtors. And he is a past Chairperson of the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce where he remains active with the Economic Development and Fall Festival Committees.
Mike and his wife, Lisa, reside in Oconee County with their two children who are actively involved in high school and travel soccer, baseball, basketball and football.
